The moon is peeking through the treetops
She paints blue shadows on the ground
Knee-deep in a snow drift I wait up
While you pass hot toddies around
Round, honey and whisky and lime
Passing the time, passing the time

You've planted lawn chairs in the snow bank
We balance gingerly in place
The night holds the promise of romance
Just us in the vastness of space
Space, twinkling stars in their grace
Spinning through space, spinning through space

I know it's exciting to stay up
Apart from the cold it's bliss
We don't want to miss this Christmas eclipse
But really I must insist on blankets

At last, Earth's shadow seems to sneak up
The moon, she bathes in amber light
Mid pour you stop talking and look up
You're right, it's a marvelous sight
Night, light from the rusty red glow
Softens the snow, softens the snow
