The Last Hurrah (music and lyrics by Diane Nalini) Bobby goes to private school, he’s in his final year Wants to join the blue berets but Daddy just won’t hear: “If I’m going to pay for college you’ll get a good degree! In finance, law or medicine… something with prestige.” So he’ll bite his tongue and take the cash Graduate and attend the bash Join the party For the last hurrah Standing on the corner waiting in the wind Mama’s on her way to get him the crowd is getting thin She pulls up in her Hummer riding nice and high She doesn’t really need the space but man, she’s looking fine! So she floors the pedal, pulls out fast Burns that gas cause it’s such a blast Sittin' pretty For the last hurrah Daddy’s got a job in the City sixty hours a week Watching money changing hands playing hide and seek Twice a month he rides a Lear from here to New Orleans Boss don’t like to take the airlines, no, he’s a man of means So he lights a match and takes a drag Of the sweetest Cohiba he’s ever had Engines roarin' To the last hurrah Sitting in his easy chair from way on high above The Man with the Plan ain’t happy at what we’ve done with love He wonders if he made an error on that Seventh Day Resting instead of teaching the flock to find its way Think I’ll start from scratch and end this mess Wipe the slate clean ‘cause it’s what I do best Won’t you join me For the Last Hurrah? Time to start from scratch and end this mess Wipe the slate clean ‘cause it’s what I do best Won’t you join me for the Last Hurrah?

Let's take a walk on the wild side (music and lyrics by Diane Nalini) Let’s take a walk on the wild side And talk about love I’ve got a feeling that our hearts could Fit like a glove There’s no time to waste With so much joy to share Now’s the time for haste For you to show how much you care Let’s take a walk while the moon Takes a spin with the stars How ‘bout a tango for two To the tune of guitars? You’re the light that shines As bright as all the stars above So let’s take a walk on the wild side And talk about love Let's take a walk on the wild side Try it you'll see there's no downside Let's take a walk on the wild side And talk about love

Veinte años 04:05
Veinte años (Music and lyrics by Maria Teresa Vera) ¿Qué te importa que te ame Si tú no me quieres ya?

Mechanical Knight (lyrics by Diane Nalini, music by Rick Rangno) Turn the key to see just what I can do for you If you wind me up you'll find I'll always be there you'll never be blue I'll be true If you use the magic words I'll bring all your dreams to life For the chance at just one dance I'll hold out my hand and we can take flight Leave tonight Stay by my side and maybe we'll find A place where nobody cares and no one will stare At such an odd pair as you and me in the light Turn the key again I'll sing you another verse And the dance will never end I'll be by your side for better or worse That's my curse

7.
Autumn Nocturne (lyrics by Kim Gannon, music by Josef Myrow) When autumn sings her lullaby And green leaves turn to gold Then I remember last September you and I Said goodbye, whispering that we would be returning when Autumn comes again Now autumn roams the hills once more But you forgot your vow Now here am I, alone with only memories Only lonely memories, autumn memories of you Love, when the leaves are turning I get a hungry yearning for your arms Love, when a heart is sober It shadows bright October's golden charm The flaming moon reminds me of The night of love that we once knew Each tiny star is but a prayer That when it's fall again, love will call again And you'll be beside me to make My autumn dreams come true
8.

Take me home 05:06
Take me home (lyrics and music by Diane Nalini) I followed everybody down to the beach But I can’t feel the light on my face When it dances just out of reach Tell me why am I frozen in place? It feels like I’ve been here before I find myself wondering if maybe there’s more Take me home, take me home I’m so tired and there’s nowhere to sleep If I swim to your shore will you carry me on? In your sheltering arms I’ll keep I watch the sun dip under the sea And the last boat sails away The waves seem to call out to me I think I know what they’re trying to say The journey might take me too far But maybe it’s worth it to be where you are Take me home, take me home I’m so cold and this water's too deep If I cross to your shore will you carry me on? In your welcoming arms I’ll sleep One by one the stars turn on their charms As the moon rises over the bay I long to feel safe in your arms So I’ll let you lead me away And now that my choice has been made The doubts and the worries, they all seem to fade Take me home, take me home I’m so cold and this water's too deep If I swim to your shore will you carry me on? In your sheltering arms I’ll sleep Take me home, take me home I’m so tired and there’s nowhere to sleep If I cross to your shore will you carry me down? In your welcoming arms I’ll keep

Without you 04:09
Without you (music and lyrics by Diane Nalini) Traveled round this world just to get away from you But it doesn’t keep my thoughts from straying back too soon If I wait just just a little bit longer, will I find The strength to see this through Waiting day by day for some sense of purpose to set in ‘Cause by now this paste-on smile has worn a little thin If I wait just a little bit longer If I try just a little bit harder If I stand just a little bit taller Will I find, a little peace of mind But at night the dreams return me to you And I warm in your arms Till the light of dawn comes Tumbling down from the sky Traveled round this world but it wasn’t far enough for me Catapult me off this planet, maybe then we’ll see If I wait just a little bit longer If I try just a little bit harder If I stand just a little bit taller Will I find, the strength to carry on

Suave morena, Acaso tens pena De mim?

about

Each song on this album is about the future in some way, whether real or imagined. Some, like Autumn nocturne, Veinte años, and L’amour d'autrefois, look back on a lost love and imagine an alternate ending, a happier future.

Others, like The Last Hurrah, Mechanical Knight, and Tout débrancher, consider where our fascination with technology and the material world might lead us. Some songs are joyful invitations to embrace honest conversations about love (Let’s take a walk on the wild side) and to enjoy the simple things (Les petites choses).

Ten of the songs on this album are Diane's original songs or collaborations, alongside three lovingly chosen covers.
